Sunday 4 August 2013
Discover the drama of professional bike racing as around 150 of the world’s top cyclists descend on the capital to compete in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic.
The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic will offer a unique opportunity for cycling fans to support their heroes. Home TV audiences and spectators will have their own world-class one-day race to be proud of, while the beauty and splendour of the Surrey hills will be showcased to international audiences more familiar with the terrain of the Grand Tours and Spring Classics.
Festival activities involving local schools and communities will be planned along the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic route in keeping with the scenes witnessed at the 2007 Tour de France Grand Depart and the London 2012 Olympic Road Cycling Races.
The route of the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic will be a variation on the London 2012 Olympic Road Cycling Race route. It will follow the same route as the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 sportive and feature a route extension (in Surrey) to meet UCI pro race requirements. The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic will start at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park at 12:30 on Sunday 4 August and finish on The Mall in central London. The race will pass through 12 London boroughs and the county of Surrey.
