GENERAL CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Please read the terms and conditions BELOW carefully, then ticket the box below to submit your entry.

In applying to enter the 2019 Brompton World Championship ballot I agree that:

  1. Liability - To the extent permitted by law, neither London & Surrey Cycling Partnership LLP (“LSCP”) nor its sponsors or suppliers will be liable for any loss, harm, damage, illness or injury however so caused (directly or indirectly), arising out of or in connection with or, suffered during or as a result of, the participation in the Event, provided always that nothing shall exclude liability for death or personal injury caused directly by the negligence of the organiser or its employees.

  2. Medical – I agree that:-

    2.1 my personal information (including medical information entered on the race number or collected by event medical staff during or after the Event) can be stored, used and disclosed by LSCP in connection with the organisation and administration of the Event and for the compilation of statistical information. If I becomes ill during or after the Event and/or receive medical attention or treatment either from Event medical staff, St John Ambulance or any doctor or hospital, I authorise such persons to provide details (including details of medical treatment) to the Medical Director of the Prudential RideLondon or others authorised by her/him.
    2.2 I consent to medical assistance and/or medical care being given to me in the case of illness, injury or an emergency situation, should this occur during the Event, such assistance to be given by the organiser, its employees, contractors or other trained personnel conducting the Event (which may include the use of anaesthetics).

  3. I declare that I will abide by the Laws and Rules for competition of British Cycling, that I will be 18 years or over on 3 August 2019, that I will compete by human powered cycle and that my entry is subject to the General Conditions of Entry a copy of which is available here.

  4. Entries into the 2019 Brompton World Championship are personal to the applicant. They cannot be sold or transferred. Any transferred entry will be void.

  5. Your entry fee is non-refundable.

  6. You agree that we may publish your Personal Information as part of the results of the Event and may pass such information to the governing body or any affiliated organisation for the purpose of insurance, permits or for publishing results either for the Event alone or combined with or compared to other Events. Results may include (but not be limited to) name, any club affiliation, event times, occupation and age category.

    We also use your personal information in accordance with our privacy policy including:-

    6.1 to process any application you make to participate in any of our events;
    6.2 to track your progress in any of our events;
    6.3 to send you health and safety and other relevant event information for the events that you are participating in;
    6.4 to notify you of event, activities, publication and services that may be of interest to you should you consent to receiving these from us;
    6.5 to comply with our statutory and regulatory obligations; and
    6.6 in the case of images and footage, in accordance with our privacy policy.

  7. I understand and consent to the fact that during the event,

    7.1 Various filming, photography and broadcasting takes place. I consent to photographs, filming and sound recording of myself and grant my permission, free of charge, to LSCP, its licensees and those authorised by it, to use such photographs, films and recordings (including any copies) and for my image, likeness and voice to be included in pictures and/or on film and/or audio broadcasts or transmissions (including the publication on the internet and in social media) and their exploitation and advertising without compensation or credit such use shall last in perpetuity.
    7.2 Any audio, visual, or audio-visual recording that you make of the Event or any part of it are for personal use only and cannot be used for any commercial purpose.

  8. All participants, both male and female, must wear a suit jacket, collared shirt and necktie. Shorts, three-quarter length trousers and skirts may be worn if preferred, though sports attire (e.g. Lycra shorts/leggings, tracksuit pants, etc.) is not permitted. There are no restrictions on shoe-wear.

  9. For health and safety reasons, it is an absolute condition of participation that a helmet is worn.

  10. You must be riding a Brompton Bicycle. By entering this event you are giving Brompton Bicycles the right to contact you.

  11. All the events will take place on a closed circuit course of 16km. The circuit will be marshalled and marked by fencing and tape. The Event will consist of eight laps of this course; participants will be timed whilst completing this distance. The race begins with a Le Mans style start; all bikes must be folded on the start grid.

  12. Bicycles must be in a safe condition; organisers reserve the right to refuse participation, should a participant’s bike, in our sole judgement, be considered unsafe for competition. No motors (electric or otherwise) or triathlon handlebars may be attached to bikes. Children and/or pets may not be carried on bicycles during the Event.

  13. All participants will be entered in the individual category (A), within which there will be sub-classifications for male, female, Veteran participants. Participants may also be entered in the team category. Teams will be constituted of a minimum of three participants and a maximum of five. To classify, at least three members of a team must finish the race; team classification will be determined by the aggregated times of every team’s top three finishers. Veterans category: participants to be 50 and over on the day of the event.

  14. All participants must collect their electronic race chip and race numbers in person on the day of the event.

  15. All bikes must be fitted with a small timing chip supplied with the race numbers. Participants are asked to take care not to confuse the chip provided by the Event organisers with any chip they may own themselves, and to return the chips at the end of the Event; each unreturned chip will be charged at £72.

  16. The three fastest male and female finishers will receive awards, the top placed male and female Veterans, and the best-dressed competitors, male and female. There will also be prizes awarded to the fastest three teams, as well as the fastest Veteran team. The top-placed male and female competitors will each receive a special edition Brompton Bicycle; details of the other prizes can be found on the website as and when they are confirmed.

  17. Challenges to results - The organisers shall hear all challenges concerning any results of the Event immediately after the same have been announced. Such challenges will only be heard and adjudicated upon after the conclusion of the race, and all decisions will be final; on no account will the race be stopped to adjudicate on any protest.
