Cape Town Cycle Tour
STAND | 400
Nestled at the foot of Africa, the city of Cape Town is famous for it’s many attractions. Ranking high among these is the flat-topped Table Mountain (one of the 7 natural wonders of the world and the landmark beacon welcoming visitors to the city ) that marks the start and end points where, each year, 35 000 cyclists pedal their way around the spectacular Cape Peninsula in the world’s largest timed cycling event. Owned and staged by the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust (CTCTT) the Cape Town Cycle Tour celebrates its 40th year on Sunday 12 March 2017. Over the years this iconic event has attracted many high-profile celebrities keen to experience the camaraderie of the 109km route – two thirds of which runs through the protected Table Mountain National Park and World Heritage Site. Famous riders to have completed this international “bucket list” experience include Hollywood actor Matt Damon, Argentinian tennis star, Gabriela Sabatini, British decathlon Olympian, Daley Thompson, soccer star, Lucas Radebe, and rugby heroes, Francois Pienaar and Morné du Plessis. Cycling greats to have sped along the route include Stephen Roche, Miguel Indurain, Greg LeMond, Jan Ullrich, Eddy Merckx, Robbie Hunter and Chris Froome. In 2015, Sir Mark Cavendish, and then Etixx - Quick-Step teammate, Mark Renshaw, joined the lead peloton. Cape Town Cycle Tour is the fourth and final event in the annual Cape Town Cycle Tour Lifecycle Week – a week-long celebration of cycling, healthy lifestyles and outdoor sporting fun in one of the world’s most scenic destinations. Other Lifecycle Week events take place on the following dates: • Cape Town Cycle Tour MTB Challenge – 4 and 5 March 2017 • Cape Town Cycle Tour Expo – 9, 10 and 11 March 2017 • Cape Town Cycle Tour Junior – 11 March 2017 The Cape Town Cycle Tour injects in excess of R450 million into the Western Cape economy every year, but more significant, is the millions raised for welfare and the impact this has on the needy – regionally and beyond. The main Cycle Tour beneficiaries are the Pedal Power Association (PPA) and Rotary Club of Claremont , equal stakeholders in event organisers, the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust. In 2015, Rotary and the PPA shared around R10 million of the proceeds between them thanks to the 35,000 participants in this iconic event. In 2012, charity entries were introduced for the first time. On 6 March 2016, some 7500 cyclists will pedal for charitable causes and use the Cape Town Cycle Tour as a platform to raise money and give back to their communities. At present there are more than 120 charities registered to benefit from the 2017 event (up from 69 in 2012) and an estimated R40 million will be raised by them . Cycle Tour beneficiaries vary widely and charities involved cover diverse areas of need including homeless and destitute, rhino poaching, the environment, education, and health.

Stique Ltd
STAND | 331
Stique Limited is a British cycling accessories business based near Cannock Chase. Our team is made up of cycling enthusiasts, design junkies and manufacturing obsessives. Everything we sell is made in the industrial heartland of England, mainly in Cannock but also from Sheffield down to Worcester. We come up with ideas, we design and engineer them, prototype them and then test our new products in the French Alps, on sportives in Britain, following The Dog and The Monkey on the (Cannock) Chase, and cyclo-crossing our way round the fields and tracks of the Midlands. We've also cycled to work on the busy streets of London, so we have an idea of cyclists' needs. Our mission is to disrupt, to challenge and yet to please. We plan to do this by thinking hard(er?) about what cycling accessories are really all about; how they're really used, not how manufacturers think they should be used.
