Continental Tyres Rider Safety Captains

New for 2017 are the Continental Tyres Rider Safety Captains who will be on the road to assist riders during Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 and 46.

100 Continental Tyres Rider Safety Captains will set off in pairs with the start waves from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Sunday 30 July. These experienced cyclists are drawn from cycling clubs across London and Surrey and will be wearing a distinctive black and orange jersey.

The Continental Tyres Rider Safety Captains will provide an on-the-road presence offering support and friendly advice to riders. They can give tips on some of the signals to use to communicate with other riders or get riders to the side of the road if they have a mechanical issue. They are there to offer help to any rider and promote safe rider behaviour from within the event.

It is important everyone riding does not endanger themselves or others and treats the route with respect, following our ‘ Love Where You Ride campaign. Prudential RideLondon goes through some areas of outstanding natural beauty, including Richmond Park and its famous deer, Box Hill, Leith Hill and Wimbledon Common. Riders must use the toilets provided and dispose of any litter in the many bins along the route. Littering is unacceptable behaviour and potentially fatal for wildlife.

Throughout the weekend, there will be static and moving cameras filming at various locations on the routes. Any riders seen endangering themselves or others through reckless or dangerous riding, or littering, may be banned from taking part in future events.

We want everyone who takes part to have a fun and enjoyable time and our partners at Continental Tyres have produced a short film to help you stay safe.

Please follow our simple rules - Look - Think – Communicate and ‘Love Where You Ride’. We want all our riders to finish safely with great memories of a wonderful day.
